Backboard is a basketball equipment, a raised vertical board with basket attached. It is made of a flat, rigid piece of material, often glass to which the basket is attached. It is usually rectangular, but many other forms are known.

In contrast to basketball, beach basketball and netball use baskets that have no backboards.
