Cassidy Mae McCarthy (born 23 July 2002) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Sussex, The Blaze and Trent Rockets. She plays as a right-arm medium bowler.[1][2]
McCarthy was born on 23 July 2002 in Crowborough, East Sussex and attended St Gregory's Catholic School in Royal Tunbridge Wells.[2] She studies at Loughborough University.[3]
McCarthy made her county debut in 2017, for Sussex against Berkshire.[4] She took six wickets at an average of 19.50 in the 2019 Women's County Championship.[5] In the 2021 Women's Twenty20 Cup, she took 4/28 from her four overs in a match against Middlesex.[6]
McCarthy was named in the Southern Vipers squad in 2020 and 2021, but did not play a match for the side in either season.[7][8] She was moved to the side's Academy squad for the 2022 season.[9] In November 2022, it was announced that McCarthy had signed a winter retainer contract at The Blaze.[10] She made her debut for the side on 7 July 2023, against Northern Diamonds in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.[11] She played two matches overall for the side that season, taking two wickets.[12] She also played two matches for Trent Rockets in The Hundred.[13]
