Chaitanya Singha Dev was the fifty-sixth king of the Mallabhum (in present-day West Bengal, India). He ruled from 1748 to 1801 CE. Marathas invaded Bishnupur during his reign. He failed to stop them. In order to save his kingdom, he signed peace Treaty and agreed to pay chauth to Marathas. Marathas were invited to bishnupur by his own Cousin brother Damodar Singh Deva[1]
