English: The map shows the human sex ratio (males per 100 females) in the 0-1 age group per 2011 Census of India (final numbers).
The boys per 100 girls ratio at birth is sometimes studied to determine if the ratio is normal (green in the map above), high (blue) or low (pink). India does not report birth sex ratios by state or nationwide. It reports child sex ratio (0-1 age group), which is considered a substitute indicator. A difference is expected between birth sex ratio and child sex ratio, one caused by regional health care issues and infant mortality rates.
