Golyan Group is a corporate business enterprise of Nepal that has been doing business in Nepal for more than six decades with investments in different business verticals like manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, real estate, financial services, and renewable energy.[1][2][3]

The Golyan Group has a presence in various domestic locations, including its headquarters in Kathmandu, Nepal. The company's domestic locations include Westar Residency in Balkumari, Patan, The Residences at Hyatt Place and Hyatt Place Hotel in Soaltee Mode, Kathmandu, Reliance Spinning Mills in Itahari, Khanar, Shivam in Koshi Highway, Tankisinuwari, Tricot in Rani, Biratnagar, commercial farms in Jhapa and other places in Nepal. It has a combination of 14 hydro and solar projects all across Nepal. In addition to its domestic locations, the company's products are also sold worldwide in countries such as Canada, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Yemen, Kenya, India, Bangladesh, and Singapore. Business

Energy

Golyan Group has a survey license for 900 MW combining Hydropower and solar power and it is working on 14 projects with a target to reach 900 MW by 2030.[7] The projects include Elevate Energy Pvt. Ltd and Apollo Energy Pvt. Ltd that is building the 135 MW Namlan Khola Hydropower Project and 306 MW Upper Mugu Karnali Hydropower Project.[8] Both projects were recently supported with a technical assistance grant by U.S. International Development Finance Corporation. Additionally, Pure Energy Pvt. Ltd is a developer of a 20 MW (10 MW + 10 MW) Solar Power plant in Nepalgunj (Banke) of which Pure Energy II started its commercial operation on May 1st, 2023. [11] [12]

Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd.

Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd. (RSML) is a public limited company established in 1994 AD and is one of the largest spinning mills in Nepal. The company has two factories: Unit A located at Khanar, Sunsari, and Unit B located at Duhabi, Sunsari, Nepal. Reliance Spinning is a spinning plant with machinery from textile machinery manufacturers such as LMW, Savio, Schlafhorst/Saurer, Vijay Laxmi, Peass, Mylon, Murata, Rieter & Aalidhra Textool.

It is engaged in manufacturing Polyester, Viscose, and Acrylic, and their various blends in grey, dyed, melange yarn & DTV yarns. RSML installed a capacity of 9,000 spindles in 1996 to the present installed capacity of 79,824 ring spindles & 960 vortex spindles (Equivalent to 19,200 ring spindles) making the factory capable of producing 40,680 tons of yarn annually. The company also started the expansion of 1,440 vortex spindles (Equivalent to 28.800 ring spindles). Open End plant & additional TFO twisters for making the factory capable of producing 8,280 tons annually. After the recent commission of two new production lines in June 2023, the Company's installed capacity brings the total production to 120MT/day.[14]

Tricot Industry

A private-sector enterprise Tricot produces cashmere knitwear and exports it worldwide. Tricot is a socially certified company in the cashmere/pashmina industry in Nepal for social compliance by SEDEX. [15]

Shivam Plastic Industry

Shivam is a manufacturing unit under the Golyan Group. It produces propylene-based woven fabric manufacturing and remains a comfort from the rating perspective. Established in 2000, Shivam Plastic Industries Pvt. Ltd. is a manufacturer of polypropylene woven fabric, HDPE woven tarpaulin fabric. The products manufactured are sold both in the domestic market as well as exported (mainly to India). It has an annual production capacity of 10,000 metric tons per annum (MTPA). Shivam is a joint venture of the Golyan family (Golyan Group) and the Agarwal family.[18]

Shivam Plastics was started in 1998, it is one of the manufacturers of HDPE/PP woven fabrics in Nepal. It has three tapelines (lorex1000, lorex1200, and lorex1400).[19]

Agriculture

Golyan Group has diversified its investment in the Agriculture sector namely the Golyan Agro, the agricultural wing of Golyan Group, it has established its own brand and supply chain for the agricultural goods that it produces. The goods collected from the group's farms and also from other farmers are sold under "Mato".[20]

The Golyan Group expanded its investments into the agriculture sector with a total investment of approximately Rs 1.5  billion. Golyan Agro, a subsidiary of the group, invested Rs. 400 million to plant lemon, papaya, watermelon, and mango trees in the Madargachha, Chakchake, and Gherabari areas of the district for farming purposes. The company has two hundred farmers directly working with the group.[21][22]


MATO: MATO is an agriculture-based FMCG company with more than 20 product categories with 7 outlets in Kathmandu which also sells chemical-free fruits and vegetables. [23] [24]

Under the brand Mato, Golyan Agro supplies organic farm produce at affordable rates in the market. What began as a CSR initiative in Rangpur, Jhapa has grown to become a successful business model of perennial farming encompassing nearly 1,000 farmers from 25 villages. For the collection of farm produce and market management, the Golyan Group has been collaborating with the Women Entrepreneurs’ Association of Nepal (WEAN) in Jhapa.  

Golyan Group has 300 bighas for commercial farming in different locations of Jhapa. Golyan Agro produces paddy and fruits including strawberry, lemon, watermelon, dragon fruit, papaya ,and seasonal vegetables. Similarly, the company also produces the local rice breed ‘Kalanamak’ in 190 bighas in Jhapa and Bardia districts collaborating with the local farmers. [25]

Hospitality and Construction

Hyatt Place, Kathmandu

Hyatt Place Kathmandu is the first hotel under City Hotel Ltd., a hospitality branch of the Golyan Group. It opened in November 2021.[26][27][28] Golyan Group aims to operate and construct several other hotels and resorts under its hospitality division.[29][30] The City Hotel has recently gone public in May 2023. [31]
