Mission

According to the official website, "Goodwall is a humanitarian social network for individuals, organizations, and schools to share their stories, collaborate, get involved more effectively with social issues. Goodwall’s platform incentivizes people to get involved easily from the ages of 7 to 70, on a regular basis, with friends and family. Goodwall is tailored for students in schools to get involved, build humanitarian CV’s and develop sustainable mindsets and behavior."[3]

The mission of the organization is "to improve transparency, encourage collaboration and maximize humanity’s social impact with information and technology." [4]

History

End Ignorance was established initially as a blog in 2012 with the principle goal of highlighting crises around the world. The website also sought to focus on initiatives by ordinary citizens and organizations at the grassroots level to tackle these crises. In doing so, Goodwall seeks to "inspire social change" by encouraging young people to get involved with organizations that contribute to ameliorating global problems, and participate in humanitarian-oriented projects. Founders of End Ignorance expanded the scope of the organization from a blog to a social network, called Goodwall, which was launched in February 2014.

Impact

Goodwall is a start-up that has moved from an online source of information to a multi-faceted web platform that offers a variety of opportunities to organizations and individuals.[5] When organizations join Goodwall, they are able to use the platform as a means of attracting followers, recruiting volunteers, interns, and employees, and showcasing their ongoing and future work. Individuals, inversely, are able to find organizations and seek out ways to get involved while remaining up-to-date on ongoing world affairs.

Goodwall also works with European schools and the International Baccalaureate program to provide students with access to volunteer opportunities that may help them get into university or land a job. In many cases these experiences can contribute to high school students' graduation requirements. [6]
