Gusti Ayu Karang was a regent in Indonesia from 1809 to 1814.[1] Her home kingdom was the Kingdom of Karangasem.[2] She invented new conditions for her daughter to become the "Virgin Queen of Klungkung" in later times.[3] Her daughter was Dewa Agung Isteri.[4] A poem about Gusti Ayu Karang, titled "Gusti Ayu Karang", is in the book Feminist Poems by Nancy Quinn Collins, published in 2016.[5]
