Ipetumodu is a city in Osun State, in the southwestern part of Nigeria. The city is the headquarters of Ife North local government. The city is under the leadership of traditional ruler with the title of Apetumodun, which means, The great king of Ipetumodun[1][2][3].
ipetumodu dynasty can be group into three viz. 1. orunmila/obatala/igbo. 2. akalako 3. apetumodu dynasty. ipetumodu was founded by obatala and orunmila (both are coleague of oduduwa who migrated from middle east). they came from ile-ife to settle near river isasa which is already inhabited by igbo. igbo peoples plead with then not drive them out of the town, then they lives together for some years. obatala was named oseremaigbo while orunmila was named barapetu. after some years the igbo peoples were finally drived out of the town. orunmila and obatala left ipetumodu for ile-ife, they left akalako the son of obatala in the town. akalako then became the first king of the town.
ipetumodu is a town in osun state south-western nigeria, it is headquarter of ife north local government. the coordinate of the town are 7o 31'0.012N, 4o 27'0E. the town is about 200 kilometer from the city of lagos. ipetumodu share boundary with ile-ife, yakooyo, asipa, akinlalu, gbongan and odeomu.
