Kharaju (Persian: خداجو, Azerbaijani: خراجو; also Romanized as Kharājū and Khodajū)[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Saraju District of Maragheh County, East Azerbaijan province, Iran,[4] and also serves as the administrative center for Sarajuy-ye Sharqi Rural District.[5]
At the 2006 census, its population was 1,458 in 361 households.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 1,584 people in 430 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,824 people in 572 households.[2]
