There are 7 school districts in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. Formerly 14, the number has decreased with a complete overhaul of the district system.[1] The Minister of Education in New Brunswick is currently Jody Carr, MLA for the Oromocto electoral district.[2]

History

As of September 2012 all of the districts have merged. 14, 17, and 18 are now known as Anglophone West. 6, 8, and 10 are now known as Anglophone South. 2 is now known as Anglophone East. 15 and 16 are now known as Anglophone North.[3] 1 and 11 are now known as Francophone Sud. 3 is now Francophone Nord-Ouest. 5 and 9 are now known as Francophone Nord-Est.[4] By halving the number of districts, the provinces minister of education estimates $5 million would be saved in administrative costs.[5]
