Martín Nusspaumer is a Uruguayan operatic tenor .,[ 1] born in Juan Lacaze , Colonia, Uruguay .[ 2]
Nusspaumer has performed as a soloist with orchestras and opera companies including Miami Symphony,[ 3] Charleston Symphony,[ 4] Ankara's Presidential Symphony Orchestra,[ 5] Odessa Philharmonic,[ 6] Orchestra Firenze, Philharmonic of Montevideo,[ 7] the South Florida Symphony Orchestra[ 8] and Istanbul Symphony Orchestra.[ 9]
Nusspaumer has had principal roles in operas including La bohème ,[ 10] Carmen ,[ 11] Lucia di Lammermoor ,[ 12] La traviata ,[ 13] Madama Butterfly ,[ 14] Eugene Onegin ,[ 15] La battaglia di Legnano ,[ 16] Don Giovanni ,[ 17] "Thais ,[ 18] Nabucco ,[ 19] and L'elisir d'amore . He is also active in the zarzuela genre including Luisa Fernanda ,[ 20] La tabernera del puerto ,[ 21] Katiuska, la mujer rusa [es ] by Pablo Sorozábal ,[ 22] and Cecilia Valdés [ 23] and has promoted this genre around the United States.[ 24] [ 25] [ 26] [ 27]
His performances have drawn accolades for powerful top notes, earning a reputation as a tenor with a clarion notes.[ 28] [ 29]
Nusspaumer studied in Montevideo [ 30] at the Municipal School of Music and National School of Lyrical Art and received an artist diploma from the School of the Arts in Charleston, South Carolina .[ 31] He graduated from the Florida Grand Opera 's Young Artist Program[ 32] and was a finalist in the Palm Beach Opera Vocal Competition and the Southern Region Auditions of the Metropolitan Opera .[ 33]
Nusspaumer resides in South Florida with his wife, mezzo-soprano María Antúnez,[ 34] [ 35] and daughter Amelia[ 36] [ 37]
