Bangladeshsovereign country located in South Asia.[1] It is bordered by India on all sides except for a small border with Burma to the far southeast and by the Bay of Bengal to the south. Together with the Indian state of West Bengal, it makes up the ethno-linguistic region of Bengal. The name Bangladesh means "The land of Bengal" in the official Bengali language. Bangladesh became an independent sovereign nation in 1971 after a bloody struggle for liberation from Pakistan led by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and General M. A. G. Osmani. Furthermore, Bangladesh inherited the borders drawn by Cyril Radcliffe, 1st Viscount Radcliffe during Partition.
