Pervomaysky District (Russian: Первома́йский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the fifty-nine in Altai Krai, Russia. It is located in the northeast of the krai. The area of the district is 3,616 square kilometers (1,396 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the town of Novoaltaysk (which is not administratively a part of the district).[1] Population: 50,100 (2010 Russian census);[3] 47,467 (2002 Census);[6] 45,484 (1989 Soviet census).[7]
Within the framework of administrative divisions, Pervomaysky District is one of the fifty-nine in the krai.[1] The town of Novoaltaysk serves as its administrative center, despite being incorporated separately as a town of krai significance—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.[1]
As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Pervomaysky Municipal District.[4] The town of krai significance of Novoaltaysk is incorporated separately from the district as Novoaltaysk Urban Okrug.[8]
