The Pink Panther wanders in the night, in a stormy weather. He arrives to a sinister hotel, called Dead Dog Hotel. He tries to sign the guests book with a quill feather, but the feather splits ink on his face. The Pink Panther wipes his face with a sheet covering an armchair. While he is moving away, two menacing eyes appear on the sheet: it is not a simple sheet, it is a ghost. The threatening armchair-shaped ghost follows the Pink Panther in a room. The Pink Panther closes a window to prevent the wind from blowing inside, then he stumbles against the armchair-shaped ghost. Since he thinks this weird creature is an ordinary armchair, he kicks the ghost downstairs.

The ghost is furious: he leaves the armchair and floats to the bathroom. The Pink Panther is having a bath: the ghost gets ready to attack him, but the Panther takes him for a towel, and, once again, uses the spectre for wiping himself. Then, he throws the angry ghost into the tub.

The Pink Panther goes to sleep, without seeing a skeleton creeping into the bed. The Panther and the skeleton blow the candles, and, after a few seconds in the dark, a dread scream and some knocks are heard. Terrified, the Pink Panther leaves the room: he understands this place is haunted. The skeleton pursues him in a corridor: the Pink Panther shelters in another room, and slams the door. The running skeleton knocks against the door and gets blown into pieces. The ghost comes, he looks at the bones pile, and he gathers the bones with a brush and a dustpan.

Then, while he is wandering in the hotel, the Pink Panther is attacked by the ghost and the skeleton. He uses the ghost as a parachute to jump down the mezzanine. When he lands with the parachute-shaped ghost, the skeleton attacks him. They fight, and the Pink Panther stun the two ghouls, hitting them with a plank.

The Pink Panther goes down to the wine cellar. The ghost switches the light off, and the Panther falls downstairs. The menacing ghost moves forward, equipped with a six-gun belt. The Pink Panther catches two bottles: the ghost is hit by the jumping caps, and falls into a barell of wine.

The Pink Panther goes upstairs. The ghost, completely drunk, hiccups when he joins the Panther. The Pink Panther blows him like a balloon, and then pops him. But the burst balloon-shaped spectre becomes a group of little ghosts, that pursues the Pink Panther. The Panther shelters in a big clock, but the little ghosts join him inside. There is some hubbub in the clock, and the Pink Panther is thrown out. The skeleton comes and threatens the Panther; the ghost, become entire again, catches the skeleton and the Pink Panther, and draws them brutally into the clock. They furiously battle in the clock, that gets broken into pieces. The noise of the fight attracts the sheriff, who arrests the three brawlers.
