Asil Nadir seems to spend much of his time in Turkey, and not only in Northern Cyprus.
Asil Nadir is also a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, which forbids the extradition of its citizens to other countries, so he can travel and travels between Turkey and Northern Cyprus anytime and without any restrictions or risks, as there are no visa requirements between the two countries.
The supposed Turkish version seems to be the article entitled "Wiki".
It now seems to be about Nadir. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.4.21 (talk) 15:09, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Following a recent edit, there are now two versions of Nadir's birthplace in the article. The lede says he was born in Lefka. This is borne out by several media biogs, including for example in the Guardian. [2]. The recent edit has him birthing in Famagusta, which is I understand quite a long way away on the other side of Cyprus from Lefka. This also has media backing. The Mail has him born in 1942. [3] The Guardian in 1941. The Telegraph in May 1941 in Lefka. [4].
Given these confusions, it may be worth stating in the intro and early life sections that the facts are somewhat uncertain. More media sources come down on Lefka than on Famagusta, but journalists being lazy creatures, they may of course have simply used Wikipedia as a source. One book I can find on Google Books says he went to school in Famagusta. [5] Perhaps that's the source of the confusion? The Turkish Wikipedia article has him being born in Lefka. Maybe others can locate more accurate sources. In the meantime, I propose we write it up as uncertain. Jamesinderbyshire (talk) 22:40, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The referencing in my piece above is all correct, but I've slightly changed my mind about how to handle it in the article - nearly every source says Lefka in 1941, so the article should probably stick with that unless there is a good quality source to say otherwise. The Mail perhaps doesn't count as "good quality". :-) Jamesinderbyshire (talk) 22:50, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
According to a Press Association report on 5 December 2005, Asil Nadir was arrested on 4 December 2010 in Central London for allegedly breaking his bail conditions.
Amended 2005 to 2010 as I don't think time travel was Nadir's speciality.

In the box on the right, "Years active" is said to be "1947 to present".
It is suprising that Asil Nadir was active at the age of six. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.30.71.244 (talk) 12:58, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
LOL, well spotted - I've changed it to 1980, the year he took control of Polly Peck - that was when he came to fame. Jamesinderbyshire (talk) 13:00, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
He may have sold newspapers at the age of six. So did many others. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.30.71.244 (talk) 13:01, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There's only one entry in article history of most recent change. If article name was moved it must not have been done right since history was not transferred. Thanks. CarolMooreDC 19:22, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's a side effect of the suppression I performed on the article earlier today. I'm looking into whether there's a better solution now... A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 19:29, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There we go, I did it again the long way 'round to preserve the history. The content of all edits prior to today is still restricted, but the history is now intact. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 19:32, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I confess I'm ignorant of the right way to do it, but removing ability to access past edits seems a bit extreme to deal with one complaint. I was curious myself to see if the complainant on WP:BLPN was being honest, or if WP:RS actually could be found for the allegation. But can't since can't read previous edits. Not to mention anyone who might be looking for some past thing, like some old ref that got messed up since original edit can't check it. CarolMooreDC 19:53, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, the suppressions were warranted in this situation, and since the content had been present in the article since its creation, I was forced to correspondingly remove all the prior edits to hide the problematic content. It was a BLP violation severe enough that we couldn't just let it hang around hoping someone might someday source it. If you end up needing something unrelated from the article's suppressed history, you could ask an oversighter to have a look into the history for you to find what you need, but we can't leave the content I suppressed publicly available. I got it. First time I've run into this situation. CarolMooreDC 00:10, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The jury are still deliberating on 10 of the 13 charges, the results will be announced shortly, therefore let's await the full verdict before publishing please. Thanks. Jamesinderbyshire (talk) 15:09, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
According to the "Personal life" section, "He is the father of five children, one by his mistress when aged 19, two by his first wife, one by a former mistress, and two by his second wife.[19]" According to my original research, 1+2+1+2 is not 5. I would check with the source cited, but I can't get past the Turkish-language paywall. Maproom (talk) 09:49, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
