Born Bob Ritchie in Romeo, Mich., Kid Rock began his libidinous rap/djing career when he was just 15 years old. Raised in what he refers to as a "hick-town," Kid Rock quickly gained a reputation in the nearby Mt. Clemens housing projects, spinning up his rare brand of potty-mouthed raps -- which comprised psychedelic rock, hip-hop, soul, jazz and funk -- for nightly dance parties. After a move to New York City (where he reportedly lived below Queen Latifah), Kid Rock formed relationships with many area rappers and eventually landed an opening slot on a 20-city tour with Ice Cube and Too $hort. He was only 18 years old.
It wasn't until 1990 that he released his first album, Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast, on the Jive label. The album helped define Kid Rock's bad-boy attitude. After a college disc jockey played one song from the album, "Yodelin' in the Valley," Kid was fined almost $25,000 by the FCC for what was termed "the most indecent thing ever heard" by the president of the university.
But the Rock pushed on, producing one lewd album after another -- including 1993's The Polyfuse Method, 1996's Early Morning Stoned Pimp and the tasteless Fire It Up EP -- and steadily gained a cult following.
In 1998, he signed with Atlantic Records, who released Devil Without a Cause in 1998. That same year, the Detroit Red Wings chose the opening rap from Early Morning Stoned Pimp, which boasts the phrase "Ain't no party like a Detroit party/ 'Cause a Detroit party don't stop," as their victory chant.
The introduction was not written in an encyclopedic style so I have removed all but the essential information. I am going to copy what was originally written here and if it is deemed necessary, this information should be re-added in a more encyclopedic tone. At the moment it sounds very much like a record company biography.
I'm not sure Joe C should be listed as a former member everyone else in that section left or was asked to leave. It's seems like he should get list in his own section maybe Deceased Members or he should be listed in Members Section as Joe C (Vocals)(Deceased). My reasoning is that Joe C is still listed as member on Kid Rocks site and that he never left the band he died so he doesn't seem to fit in the former members section. Any thoughts? Rainer1 21:54, 6 September 2006 (UTC)-He died their for he his a former member.
I get what you are saying but I think it would be dishonest to say that. It is cool that Kid Rock is doing that for a memorial but for article purposes, he is a former member. If you want to create deceased in honer of him, go right ahead. I see no problem (nor should anybody else) with created a deceased profile and listing his name under it. 24.205.50.155 08:29, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
In the former members section, I see Bobby East. The link is actually to the race car driver. I don't believe that Bobby East was a member. If he was, then his article should reflect that. 24.205.50.155 08:34, 16 January 2007 (UTC) -He was a member he was in Hemigod which disbanded this year when he was with the group he had the long 80s hair band hair. He played Mellotron and Slide Gutair on Kid Rock if you read the credits for the album, he's won several detroit music awards for his gutair instumentals,
Bobby played Bass on one tour, and guitar on the next. As well as the studio work mentioned above. His Detroit music awards were for his work in Hemigod and with the cover band the Reefermen. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.85.50.1 (talk) 04:34, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Replace Rammstein Airbase with "Ramstein Airbase" Spelling error
"Rock and Roll Jesus" section needs heavy copy editing for style, spelling, and clarity.
The article says that Kid Rock inducted Bob Seger in the Hall Of Fame in 2005. Well, he was actually inducted in [2004]. He also inducted Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2005: http://youtube.com/watch?v=4hUj3a4CeZE 71.229.48.174 (talk) 02:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
I edited the first paragraph, but I don't have time to run through the whole article...it's just full of misspellings, tense changes, grammatical errors, punctuation errors and discrepancies. For instance, one line said he has sold 22 million albums since the release of his debut album, then the VERY NEXT line said the debut album was never released. Seems to be no intro, just jumps right in and rambles on and on with no real structure to the article. 162.136.192.1 (talk) 17:29, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Maybe then he will stop wiping his ass with real songs like he just did with his new abomination, All Summer Long. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.185.6.18 (talk) 04:45, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

"He broke through into the mainstream on his Atlantic Records debut album "Devil Without A Cause". It sold 11 million albums (honestly, this is not a joke!) on the back of the strength of its 3rd single, "Bawitdaba"" It's good to know there are still heroes in this world. 71.255.157.85 (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 03:25, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

I haven't really looked over the page properly lately, but this section looks absolutely dreadful. It seems to praise Kid Rock too much, as well as being completely unsourced and looking like it is written entirely from one editor's perspective.
A lot of the material there may actually be useful (even if unsourced) if it were re-written, but as it stands pretty much all of it needs to go. James25402 (talk) 10:24, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
Hopefully it's a bit better now - trimmed it down, and tried to keep in the interesting/useful bits. But the quote from him is still unsourced, and the section's still not great. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.32.35.78 (talk) 06:58, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Kid Rock is one of the best people! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.72.1.56 (talk) 15:54, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
at the moment he is listed as being in an unknow episode, it's You Only Lick Twice Season 1, Episode 6 [Source] Prince Bee (talk) 01:58, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
He is in that category yet there is no mention of Republicanism in the article. Why is this?--EchetusXe (talk) 00:19, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Noting this here as this is marked up as a controversial article. I've changed the redirect from Robert_J_Ritchie to point to a disambig page as we've at least two other articles on similar names. - TB (talk) 12:05, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Would it be possible to create a seperate page for RJ Richie as whilst the Kid Rock page is detailed. It provides little insight into the early life of Kid Rock, following only his music career. I feel it would be beneficial to have two seperate articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.219.142.190 (talk) 08:22, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
(Fennydom (talk) 08:53, 11 June 2009 (UTC))
As incorrectly noted in the previous section. I feel a seperate page for RJ Richie would be ill-advised. Although the addition of an "Early Life" paragraph within the Kid Rock article would be beneficial. The only additional page worth making that spawns from the Kid Rock page, is in my opinion, one for the Twisted Brown Trucker band.
