Trevor Ombija is a Kenyan journalist who currently works for Citizen TV as the host of the channel's Monday report and morning show Day Break.[1] Trevor was born on 9 September 1988 in Kisumu County, Nyanza province[2]

Education

Trevor went to high school in Anding'o Opanga Secondary school in Nyanza Province[2] and afterwards to University of Nairobi where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Journalism and Media studies) between 2010 and 2013..[3]

Career

Trevor revealed that he was once a Matatu conductor before landing a corporate job.[4] However, before journalism, Trevor worked as a Leaf Stores Clerk for DHL between 2006 and 2010. He also worked with SDV International Logistics as an assistant sea ports coordinator.[5] Trevor entered the field of working in journalism starting out for China Global Television Network in 2012 as an intern. After graduating in Trevor worked with Nation Media Group as a radio anchor for Nation FM then moved to TV where he worked for NTV as a news anchor in 2014.[2] . In 2019 Trever moved to Citizen TV where he is currently working.[1]

Personal Life

Little is known about Trevor's parents and siblings other than his father being a teacher in the village. Outside of journalism and media works Trevor is an investor of Kileleshwa club Samaki Samaki Club and is a senior partner of Crestwood Marketing and Communications Ltd.[2] On 20 June 2023 Trevor revealed that he has a son on Instagram.[6]

Awards and achievements

In December 2020 Trevor was awarded the Head of State Commendation (HSC) award by former president Uhuru Kenyatta[4]
