This is due to concerns about reliability, and it unduly influencing decisions on Wikipedia. Other categorizations (WP:RSP and advocacy) help fill the gap left here.

If a source is using Template:Cite book, it will only receive the book icon. This is primarily to prevent books that have a link to an Amazon listing from being marked as generally unreliable (due to Amazon being generally unreliable per WP:RSP).
Support for customization: users can now toggle which icons they do or don't want to see.
