This is a database on maps of Windsor, Ontario and the rest of Essex County's municipal election results.
All data used is based on data published from official municipal sources. (A specially formatted Excel spreadsheet is used to calculate totals and percentages.) All maps are designed by myself using Adobe Illustrator and GIMP.
Here is how the maps on here work. Each candidate is given an individual colour to identify with. The colour is chosen based off of the following criteria:
The votes are all counted up for all candidates using the previously mentioned spreadsheets and the totals are given by polling district (each of Windsor's 10 wards have between 6 to 9 of them.) The polling districts are then shaded according to how much vote the candidate who received the most votes has gotten. Lighter shades mean less of a plurality, darker shades mean more of a plurality. This is to show the overall voter strength of the candidate in each polling district.
Pie charts show the percentages received by all the candidates, and are scaled according to the total number of votes cast in them (which is not necessarily related to the voter turnout.) The totals for each candidate by polling district are broken down and listed in the bottom right corner of each map, and are also shaded according to the candidates total per district.
I encourage you to to use any of the maps for any research or educational purposes. If you are an aspiring political candidate - then I want to kindly encourage you to utilize these maps in your research.
