AFC Backlog is GONE

The Articles for Creation Barnstar
For your help in finally putting an end to the monstrous backlog at Articles for creation, I, Hersfold (t/a/c), hereby award you the Articles for Creation Barnstar! Well done, and thank you for your dedication to the project! Hersfold (t/a/c) 22:22, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

RFA

Thanks for participating in my RFA, which closed successfully with 40 supports, 13 opposes, and 4 neutrals. For those of you who supported my RFA, I greatly appreciate it. For those who did not, I'm also thankful for your constructive criticism. If you need some advice or have some pointers for me, you know where to reach me! A special thank you to Majorly for all his time and effort he has placed in my nomination. Once again, thank you all for your helpful comments. Now off to new admin school! Cheers, Icestorm815Talk 01:15, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Re: Request

Sure! I'd recommend using the same code I use for my Barnstar ribbon numbers. This will knock things around beyond what they're already doing as a result of the templates. Try copying this onto your user page:
<span style="position:relative; left: -28px; top: 5px;">((AFC ribbon))</span> ((Rollback))
I've checked, and it should work in both Firefox and IE. Safari usually does what Firefox does, in case that's what you're using. If you ever decide to add more stuff up top as I've seen other people do, it's the same code, you just play with the numbers until things go where you want them.
As for the adoption lessons, I would be honored. Plus, you know what they tell you when you first sign in - "don't contribute anything you don't want mercilessly torn apart by other editors." Please help yourself, and make sure to let me know if I've missed anything or have a mistake. Thanks for the compliments. :-) Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:16, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

RE:Adoption

Sorry. I just got into a debate with another user over Cassie Bernall, and I'm feeling a little anti-wiki right now. I'll drop you a line when I come back. Cheers! THE KC (talk) 13:02, 20 February 2008 (UTC).

Hey, I'm back, and ready to resume. Drop me a line, please. THE KC (talk) 01:21, 25 February 2008 (UTC).

Adoption Requirements

Also, I'm going to start looking for articles to cleanup. To what extent does an article need to be "cleaned up" to qualify as having cleaned it up. Maybe that's an unclear question, I hope you understand what I mean. Steve Crossin (talk) 06:01, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Administrator

Have you ever thought of becoming an Administrator? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 02:33, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

I have, and have put in two RfA's already, the first one was just premature, the second, just unsuccessful. I am keeping my promise made in my second RfA that I will not request the tools again without first being nominated by another user. Tiptoety talk 06:07, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Would you like for me to "endorse" you? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:57, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Then, I will. Question: Do I start a third one for you? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 23:07, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Here's your nomination. I hope you accept. ;) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 00:03, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Your welcome! And Blue said pretty much everything I would have written. Instead of having two paragraphs that say the same things, I just added my signature to what she wrote (which she agreed on). If someone says that it is invalid, I'll just write my own. iMatthew 2008 11:33, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Well, IDK about Matt, but what's written, I wrote. So, do you want me to fix the original statement? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 00:43, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
No problem, man. ;) I think you deserve the Adminship. And, your the first user I've "endorsed". Something you should be proud of. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 00:46, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

V-day

You have previously expressed an interest in undergoing the Admin coaching program. We're currently engaged in a program reset to help things move more smoothly in the future. If you are still interested in the program, please go to Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Requests for Coaching and re-list yourself under Current requests, deleting your entry from Older requests. Also, double-check to make sure coaching is right for you at theCoachee checklist; WP:Adoption or WP:Editor review may be more appropriate depending on your situation and aspirations. We should get back to you within a day or so, once a coaching relationship has been identified. Thank you. MBisanz talk 06:54, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

And I'm seeing your up for discussion this week. Hopefully you can ignore my message-spam above. MBisanz talk 07:12, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Yep, thanks for all your efforts in trying to improve the admin coaching program though! Cheers, Tiptoety talk 19:53, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Permissions Assignment

  1. A permission is an additional ability beyond a basic user's. Correct
  2. Unregistered users can only edit non-protected pages. Correct
  3. An autoconfirmed account is a four-day-old account. Correct
  4. Registered users have the same power as unregistered users, as well as editing of semi-protected pages, the abilities of creating and moving pages, and upload files. Correct
  5. Sysops can grant rollback. Correct
  6. Rollback enables you to revert multiple vandalism edits at once. Partly Correct - Rollback allows for reverts of multiple vandalism edits at once, but from only a single user. Not sure if you knew that or not, was not in your answer.
  7. Rollback should not be used for edit disputes. Correct
  8. Admins have the same priveliges as registered users (and, therefore, unregistered users) but have extra power, including automatic rollback access, rollback granting powers, an "unwatched pages" list, protection capabilities, deleted contrib viewing, access to the MediaWiki interface, and blocking power. (User:Ryan Postlethwaite|Ryan Postlethwaite]] blocked my school's, actually...) Partly Correct - They can also delete pages
  9. Admins become so when they are nominated through RFA and approved through 70% consensus. Correct
  10. Beureaucrats namely edit the "nuts and bolts" of permissions. They can also rename accounts and alter bot permission levels and raise others to admin and beaureucrat levels after RFA's and RFB's. Correct
  11. Stewards revoke and grant high acess levels, in any project (you name it, HeroesWiki German, Wookiepedia French...) Correct
  12. Checkuser enables a user to see if one is a sockpuppet of another. Correct
  13. Oversight allows a user to hide a revision of an article from view. Correct
  14. You must have at one point been an Arbritation Committee member to get oversight. Correct

Cheers. THE KC (talk) 02:12, 27 February 2008 (UTC).

Good job, all correct but one, and that one was only half off. Keep up the good work, and let me know if you have any questions. Tiptoety talk 03:21, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Added a question to your RfA

Tiptoety, I saw some edits in your recent contributions that didn't make a lot of sense to me. I've added a reference to them as a sixth question on your RfA. I wanted to give you a head's up, so you could address the issue in a timely way. By and large, your contributions have been impressive. Although I don't support your candidacy, I nonetheless wish you well in your efforts. --SSBohio 03:34, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, I have seen it and answered it accordingly. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 03:41, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
The edits make a lot more sense in the context of your explanation. I'm not sure I would've seen 72 Express Lanes as a plausible redirect, but I can see you acted in good faith. Also, if you check out the further comments at the AfD page, it seems that there are a couple of sources pointing to his being the author of the manga in question. I've never been much of a fan of manga & anime myself, but my boyfriend knows the subject in mind-numbing detail. (He's not interested in editing Wikipedia, however; He's even more anti-deletion than I am!) Anyway, that was a pretty dogged bit of work clearing out much of the AFC backlog. --SSBohio 04:27, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I just assumed that the IP knew more than me when it came to the highways (me not living in California and all :P), I actually enjoy working at WP:AFC (call me a wikigeek, lol), though sometimes it is very tedious. Yeah, it is starting to look like there has been a huge rush to improve the article and it has yielded some okay sources, which is good. I am all for having good articles here. I am very seriously debating withdrawing my AfD nom, but im gonna wait it out a little bit longer. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 04:31, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Anti-Vandalism

  1. How can you identify vandalism?

Are you asking what some of the obvious signs of vandalism are? I know that, but is that what you are asking? Steve Crossin (talk) 05:02, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

And, thanks for the barnstar :D Steve Crossin (talk) 20:50, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Now, I should tell you a few things that have hapened recently.

I also think I'm ready to do the rest of the Vandalism 1.1 test.

And lastly, I'm seeking to join the Counter-Vandalism Unit Task List. Steve Crossin (talk) 20:11, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism 1.2

And as for this user, the standard button I click is "Revert and Warn". It reverts the vandals edit, and the program decides which warning to give out, so, it was the programs decision. However, I think it was reasonable. Hope that answers your question. Steve Crossin (talk) 23:27, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Julian Rios

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Julian Rios, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Julian (pornographic actor). It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 00:01, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

I think that this station might be notable as many of the Japanese rail articles are notable. However, I have not been able to find an article on the line that this station is supposedly on. It may actually not be notable. I would probably have to wait for a few days to see if information appears that suggests that it is notable. It might be notable or it might be not. Adoption Question

Hey, Tiptoety. I had a question for you. Could you tell me whether removing a vandalism warning (for an act obviously vandalism) would be considered vandalism itself? Or what else would it be. And what if there was a misunderstanding? If you look at my talk page, you'll see I was mistakenly accused of vandalism at Cassie Bernall. Could I delete that template? Thanks.

*ahem* Criticism

Just kidding, hey there, how goes it? Just dropping by to leave a tiny bit of advice; you recently handled an AIV report by declining it, even though the user had very recently vandalized. Usually, and I'm mainly just suggesting this, as it isn't mandatory, people leave up the address if it has been active very recently. If you have to do something, for example issue a final warning, make a note of that by indenting a comment under the report, and watch the user; removing the report can sometimes confuse other users. Anyway, that's just my thoughts; you don't have to heed my advice. :) Cheers! Master of Puppets Call me MoP! 03:28, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Speedy of Imaginary Potlatch redirect

Perhaps I was unclear in my rationale for deletion. "Imaginary potlatch" is a made-up term for a game of no notability, which was created as a redirect by a user who added the irrelevant information to the Time Travelers' Potlatch article. This article has now been merged into the "Games" subsection of the Surrealist techniques article. So, what we have is a redirect from a nonnotable term to another redirect. Rather than change the double redirect so that "Imaginary potlatch" redirects to Surrealist techniques, I put it up for deletion since the term is never used anyway. Does that make sense, or, anyway, more sense? ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 02:18, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
