Wael William Diab is an inventor and technology strategist with over twenty-five years of leadership experience in Silicon Valley's Fortune 500 companies.[1] He is a prolific inventor, holding more than 900 patents in the IT field [2] and is recognized as an industry expert in digital transformation. Diab currently chairs ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42, the joint technical committee on artificial intelligence (AI) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

Education

Diab received his Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics from Stanford and an MBA with honours from the Wharton School.[3]

Recognition

Diab has received various awards, including the 2011 TechAmerica Innovator Award for Green Technology.[4] He has also won the IEEE Standards Medallion,[5] among others.

Publications

Diab is the co-author, with Howard M. Frazier, of Ethernet in the First Mile: Access for Everyone.[6]

Industry leadership

Diab has played a significant role in leading industry-wide initiatives. Notably, he chairs ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42, the IEC and ISO committee on artificial intelligence, overseeing projects addressing barriers to AI adoption and requirements from diverse stakeholders. Diab serves as the secretary of the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) Steering Committee[7] and chairs the Technology[8] and Liaison[9] working groups.
