Waiye (Somali: Waaciye) is a town in the [[Karkaar,Puntland,Somalia| province of the autonomous Puntland region in northeastern Somalia.[1] Waiye was proposed to become a district by the Somali government in 1990, the town did not go through the entire process, as a result its designation as district remained pending. Following the establishment of Puntland government the town gained district status.[2][3][4]
Waiye is situated in the Waiye District of the Bari province. Waiye has a number of academic institutions.[5] In the Waiye District, there are ten primary schools, according to the Puntland Ministry of Education. Faruuq, Jurile, Khalid Binuwalid, and Waiye Primary are a few of these.[6] Secondary schools in the area include Waiye Secondary.[7]
