Near future in television[edit]

We can't get any more vague than "Near future in television". It's unencyclopedic and just plain silly. Not to mention that the article doesn't even respect its own definition of "near future", or almost entirely consists of upcoming anniversaries of TV shows. --Conti|✉ 13:54, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per nom. Delete I've seen this type of thing on entertainment wikis as well, where somebody digs a hole and then fills it with an item like "Supertrain celebrates its 30th anniversary". Delete: When I created this page, I believed it to be of helpful use, and a fine addition to the "Near future" series of articles (Near future in film, Near future in video gaming). However, it has become a massive junkyard of irrelevant information, rumors, POV attitudes, unsourced information, misclaneous junk, and original research. I apoligize for authoring it. I went through and removed the anniversaries of shows that have been canceled but I think the shows that are still airing new episodes should be kept. I also changed "celebrates" to "marks". TomCat4680 (talk) 07:09, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Keep and rename to 2010s in television, and add a link to and brief summary of 2010 in television. This is exactly what was done with Near future in film (AfD). There is reliably sourced information about television events which are planned and almost certain to take place in the next few years, and these should be documented. But an article which by its title can never have permanent content is not the right way to do it; articles on decades are the proper way to present information when there is not enough to fill articles on individual years. WP:CRYSTAL does not apply to reliably sourced information about future events, and WP:IINFO won't apply if the scope is properly defined to be a specific time period rather than a vague "near future".
