Nirgrantha (Sanskrit) or Nigantha (Pali) is a word that arises regularly in the Buddhist and Jain scriptures. It refers to people who left their lives as householders committing full-time to the religious life. These people played a most important role in the evolution of Indian Religion. Therefore a young student wishing to understand these matters will be at a loss without access to such information.
