Flcelloguy[edit]

As acting chair, I believe Flcelloguy has passed the bar. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:48, 26 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Flcelloguy (talk · contribs) - I believe that I could help out the Wiki-munity by becoming a mediator and help clear the current backlog. I've already successfully diffused (I hope) several situations, and I feel my skills would be useful. I am an admin (if that matters). Also, per Uncle Ed's request, I have made some proposed changes at Wikipedia:Requests_for_mediation/Proposed. Let me know what you think! Thanks very much. Excuse me? I left a friendly note on Sam Spade and FeloniousMonk's user talk pages, after stumbling upon the redirect I am. Both had repeatedly reverted each other, so I simply left them a friendly reminders to not engage in reverting each other and edit warring. In addition, I reminded both of the WP:3RR policy, which is designed to prevent edit warring. Sam Spade immediately responded, calling me "arrogant to an extreme" and pointing out that I have only been here since May. I left another friendly note, trying to diffuse the situation, but then he responded here. I bear no grudge against Sam Spade, but feel like his comments are unjustified. Thanks! P.S. Sam Spade has removed my comments on his talk page, so you may need to check the history. Thanks! Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 15:53, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Don't leave notes like this on my talk page in the future. If you have a comment, make sure it is informed and respectful. I am not in danger of violating WP:3RR, as a moments review of I am demonstrates. It would appear you have been a contributor since 14 May 2005. I feel a 3 month contributor making statements in such a manner on my page is either a) not a three month contributer, or b) arrogant to an extreme. Sam Spade 15:39, 3 September 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your opinion, Moriori. Let me just clarify: I have to admit, it was a mistake wording it that way; what I meant was the differences you two had with each other. This user had been dropping multiple lengthy notes on my user talk page, and he asked me if I would be willing to mediate to help resolve differences, and I figured there's no harm in trying. Oh well, thanks anyways for your input. Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 22:25, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
You are making my point for me quite brilliantly by saying "the differences you two had with each other". You still miss the significance. Your original approach to me clearly revealed an assumption that I was participating in some sort of flame/edit war, and that is why my response to you was "you must be joking!". Even now you seem not to be able to understand that I was not in any such war, or expressing any differences with another user. There were no "differences you two had with each other". There was nothing to mediate. There was a one-way-traffic onslaught from a user against me which I didn't respond to. Had you done a little preliminary checking, I think you may even have advised the user that frivilous appeals for "mediation" are not a good idea when there is a mountainous stack of evidence against that person seeking "mediation". This is not a black mark against you from me. You are a good Wikipedian, and you will probably progress to be a wise and fair and highly respected mediator. I trust so.
