I've noticed that a lot of disputes skip mediation and go straight to arbitration simply because there's not enough active mediators (or too many of them working on current disputes already). I consider myself a contributor who knows how to stay civil in even the hottest cases and since I got promoted to administrator last December, I've come to know most of the policies as well. Therefore, I'd like to nominate myself to become the latest mediator. -- Mgm|^(talk) 12:55, May 30, 2005 (UTC)

I hereby declare the nomination as confirmed. And if there are no objections, I nominate MGM for chairman as well (I'm willing to chair in his absence and run the mailing list as his assistant).

Neutral - I don't think the problem is at all about number of active mediators, it's rather that the role of mediation is unclear in Wikipedian society, and that *cough* whenever anyone attempts to arrange a meeting for everyone to discuss the issue, other people jump in and postpone it for a bit, which turns out to be a permanent postponement. I doubt the problem can be fixed if it's misunderstood. --Improv 14:37, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Support. Some fresh activity and organizing effort is needed. Mgm has indicated he's willing to take over as chair, since Jwrosenzweig stepped down, and I think this would be a good idea. --Michael Snow 20:06, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I also think Mgm would be great to join the committee. I hope he can be WP:MC's Raphael Benitez... I think he would bring a new direction, and more publicity to the committee. To me, that is what is needed for dispute resolution to become resolution, rather than a route to user banning. smoddy 20:21, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Support. Mgm will undoubtly be a bonus to the committee. I've been wanting to see about joining the committee myself for months but it has seemed to me the committe wasn't very receptive to nomination. Strong support -- I've had dealings with Mgm when he came to aid in an attempt to resovle a dispute I was (and still am) involved in.
