Sorry, I don't work a lot with images. A quick search at Commons under "Feronia" would've brought up the head among the butterflies of the same name. The original is here. Please fix it, as I'm not sure what you need. Cynwolfe (talk) 14:33, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that's all sorted now. As such, nomination withdrawn. Acather96 (talk) 08:14, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On 16 Feb 2009 I sent an email to the photo's author, Thomas B. Greenslade, notifying him that I'd just used his photo at Wikipedia and I asked him whether he had any objection. He replied to me on 21 Feb 2009 and made no objection to the use of the photo. You're welcome to send him another email asking him to re-affirm his position, if you need the documentation or if you don't believe me. He publishes his email address at the home page of his site, http://physics.kenyon.edu/EarlyApparatus/index.html, and he says he welcomes correspondence. (By the way, and although it's technically irrelevant, he doesn't make any statement at his site about wishing to reserve all re-use of his photos). Seanwal111111 (talk) 18:49, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. First, are you sure he took the picture? Just based on the number of images used on the source page, I have to wonder if Mr. Greenslade created all of them.
Assuming he did create this one, we need to have permission filed with Wikipedia by using the process described at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission#When permission is confirmed. Do you still have his email, and does it (or your email) explicitly refer to GFDL licensing? –Drilnoth (T/C) 19:45, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thomas B. Greenslade is an expert and enthusiast about the stuff at his website. I'm sure he took most of the photos himself. I expect he took practically all of them. The following is the email I sent to him on 16 Feb 2009. In his reply, he sent me additional photos. Since my mailbox has an upper limit on bytes consumed, and since I didn't want the photos taking up the bytes, I deleted his reply.
Dear Thomas B. Greenslade, Jr.,
I wish to use a photograph of yours to illustrate an article at Wikipedia about John Tyndall. The photo is at http://physics.kenyon.edu/EarlyApparatus/Static_Electricity/Electricity_from_Glass/Electricity_from_Glass.html
Since I didn't see any explicit copyright restrictions at your EarlyApparatus webpages, I anticipate that permission to use the photo will probably be granted. And just right now I've gone ahead and actually inserted the photo at Wikipedia at the following page. If you don't want to grant permission for any reason, I will of course immediately remove it from Wikipedia.
You can see the proposed reported details about the image's author and licensing by clicking on the image itself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Tyndall#Educator
Thank you for your Early Apparatus webpages.

Hmm... I'm sorry, but that's going to be problematic. Let me see what I can do by emailing the copyright holder. –Drilnoth (T/C) 22:24, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have sent an email to Mr. Greenslade about the possibility of licensing this and/or all images on his site as ((Cc-by-sa-3.0)). I'll make a note here if/when he gets back to me. –Drilnoth (T/C) 22:46, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, he got back to me quickly. "The request in the message below to use the images in the website that is cited is DENIED -- I do not wish to have any of my images or text reproduced in Wikipedia. Links to the website are welcome,"
Sorry, but this image will have to go. –Drilnoth (T/C) 00:00, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your work, Drilnoth. I don't know what changed his mind. I notice in his statement he uses the word "images" (not "image"). Maybe that explains it. Seanwal111111 (talk) 10:26, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think that may be the case. I had asked him about the possibility of having many of the images from his site licensed, but that even just one or two (such as this one) would be much appreciated. This was the first time I've actually sent a permissions request email, and now I'm thinking I was asking a little much; I'd just thought that mentioning the "one or two images" thing would work even if the wider licensing scope didn't. If that's the case, I'm terribly sorry about causing his change in mind, but he did say he doesn't want ANY images used, so it may not have mattered. I will be keeping this in mind in the future when I send requests for permission. –Drilnoth (T/C) 12:31, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
