Motions and requests by the parties[edit]

Unblocking of suspected sockpuppets

1) It is important that User:BenjaminCass be unblocked, at least for purposes of editing this arbcom case. Frankly his blocking as a sockpuppet is rather absurd. Everyone seems to agree that he really is himself editing (probably from the same flat or office as User:DarrenRay, hence the checkuser result). He has offered to prove this via australian wikipedians he knows personally, or via telephone. Sam Spade 21:32, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I and several others were in #wikipedia when someone claiming to be User:2006BC (Benjamin Cass) appeared, protesting their indefinite blocking as a sockpuppet. It was suggested that they ask Darren Ray to appear in the channel to confirm that they were different people; a person identifying themselves as Darren Ray appeared under a different ISP's hostmask later during the evening. Both users appeared to be different people, and a log of the events which took place is available on request. On a related matter, it has been noted that User:AChan is suspected of being a sockpuppet of User:DarrenRay, and should possibly also be unblocked for the duration of this case. (not sure if it is proper form for me to comment here?) They're different people - they each have known, real world identities. Perhaps this red herring could be left behind? I have to say, they even have different personalities on Wikipedia - Darren is more aggressive, but a worse speller :) Stevage 21:07, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Per what has emerged on the Evidence page, I'm not so sure about this whole thing. Alphax τεχ 10:50, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just got another email from Benjamin asking to be unblocked. Could the arbiters comment on this please? Sam Spade 10:12, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
