This course examines the diverse methodologies, theories, and influential texts that have framed the discipline of art history. Emphasis will be placed on building skills of critical reading, advanced research, writing techniques, and oral communication. Writing projects will culminate in an original research paper on a single work of art with an opportunity to present the paper at the GC undergraduate research conference at the end of the semester. This course is ideal for those interested in pursuing graduate studies or careers as art historians, museum curators, or artists.
