Key Additions?[edit]

I'm not sure if this is the right place to add this, but how about expanding the set of default/universal accesskeys? A few major ones are as follows: (1) for Wikipedia Home (4) to focus on the Search Box (9) for Contact Wikipedia

Maybe we could also have: (2) for Featured Content (5) for About Wikipedia

These controls are mostly missed out of the current set of acceskeys (which seem to focus on logged in users). However the numbers above are consistent with the most popular scheme used on other sites. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Darkdoc (talkcontribs) 11:04, August 23, 2007 (UTC).

Readability?[edit]

In smaller windows, the section 'Display access keys' becomes difficult to read, as the CSS code box becomes very thin and the text is stretched out over dozens of lines. Could the CSS code go either before or after the images/videos to preserve readability? – Pigeon <3 (talk) 13:16, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Pigeon43 could you please tell us which skin are you using? Are you using mobile or desktop version of the website? In Vector, I don't see any problems with CSS code readability in narrow windows. The images and videos float above the code blocks. The lines in the code blocks are pretty short, so in Vector the code only starts wrapping when the window is less than 550 pixels wide. It is even better in mobile view (skin is called Minerva), because there is no sidebar to take up horizontal space. —andrybak (talk) 19:06, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Andrybak Sorry- I can't really remember, this was quite a while ago. As far as I am aware, I just have default settings! This happens on my laptop, at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
From what I can see- the issue is that the images are floating to the right, but are not above the CSS code blocks. To make space for the image, the CSS code blocks are subsequently 'squished' so they fit in the remaining space.
At thinner resolutions, the image does appear above the CSS code, which takes the full width. However, the images now overlap the edge of the page (the thin line on the left). Thinner still, the images go off the screen and cannot fully be seen. At no point do the images change size.
On mobile, things seem to work fine. The images are resized and placed above the CSS code with no overlapping elements. Everything is a uniform width (full). This is on a screen with a native resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.
I'm not an expert in CSS, so apologies if my lack of knowledge is making this more difficult.
Please let me know if I can help further! – Pigeon <3 (talk) 22:37, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, I understand the problem now. Before the floating kicks in, at the intermediate width, the code turns into a column, one-two characters wide. Will attempt a fix... —andrybak (talk) 23:23, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
CSS code box's readability has been fixed with a bit of CSS. —andrybak (talk) 23:31, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Misalignment / Overlap[edit]

Added CSS with shortcuts shown always with a box to my personal CSS, and it's causing an overlap in two places in Firefox 109.0.1 (64-Bit):

1. the "watch this page"-star and is overlaid by the "w"-shortcut symbol.

2. the list of pages I'm watching button is being overlapped by the "L"-shortcut symbol. Nakonana (talk) 12:44, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Cannolis (talk) 04:25, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
