Wilbarger County Airport (IATA: F05) is a public airport located approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Vernon, Texas. It provides general aviation service.
Activated 23 Sep 42. Conducted basic flying training until inactivated 31 Mar 45. Primary use was basic flying training of flight cadets. Fairchild PT-19s were the primary trainer used. Also was an auxiliary to Frederick Army Airfield, Oklahoma.
Transferred to Army Corps of Engineers 5 May 1945. The airfield was turned over to civil control in February 1947 though the War Assets Administration (WAA).
