The Xiaomi SU7 (Chinese: 小米SU7; pinyin: Xiǎomǐ SU7, pronounced "/su/ seven" or /sutʃiː/ s-oo-tch-ee in Chinese)[4][5] is a battery electric full-size sedan developed by Chinese company Xiaomi Auto, a subsidiary of the Chinese consumer electronics company Xiaomi. It is the first Xiaomi vehicle, and is manufactured under contract by BAIC Off-road in Beijing. It was announced in December 2023. The car was formally launched on 28 March 2024 in Beijing, with Xiaomi starting to take orders for the car on that day.[6]
According to Xiaomi, 'SU' stands for 'Speed Ultra',[7][8] and the number 7 indicates the car's market segment.[9][failed verification] 'SU' may also be a reference to the Chinese word 速 (pinyin: sù), meaning 'speed'. The SU7 is available in three versions, namely the SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max.[10]
Xiaomi announced its intent to enter the electric vehicle market in March 2021. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun claimed the company would invest 10 billion yuan (US$1.4 billion) into the project. Xiaomi Automobile was established in 2021, based in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone. The company received a permit to produce vehicles from China's National Development and Reform Commission in August 2023.[11][12]
Production of the SU7 started in December 2023. It was introduced on 28 December 2023.[13] The retail price is announced on 28 March 2024, which the standard version costs CNY 215,900 yuan (US$30,408).[14]
The SU7 was developed under codename MS11.[15] The design team was led by chief designer Li Tianyuan, who was poached from BMW. According to Lei Jun, he rejected three design proposals due to durability concerns.[2] Xiaomi benchmarked the car against the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S.[16]
The sedan is equipped with air suspension with adaptive dampers, an active shutter grille and an active rear wing with four adjustment levels.[13] The company claims the drag coefficient of the SU7 is the world's lowest at 0.195.[16]
The SU7 is equipped with a 16.1-inch touchscreen infotainment center with 3K resolution. The infotainment system is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 system-on-chip (SoC) and based on the Xiaomi HyperOS (小米澎湃OS) software. A driver-assistance system branded Xiaomi Pilot with 16 functions is standard. It uses Nvidia Drive Orin system SoCs.[13]
The SU7 uses many international suppliers for its parts, including Bosch, Brembo, Continental, ThyssenKrupp, ZF Friedrichshafen, Benteler, Schaeffler Group and Nexteer Automotive,[17][18][19] and supports Apple's Car Play to interact with the iPad.[20]
The SU7 is built on an 800-volt electrical architecture with a maximum of 871 volts. The company markets the electric motors used by the SU7 as the "HyperEngine V6 Series". The base SU7 with rear-wheel drive operates with 400 volts with a power rating of 220 kW (299 PS; 295 hp) and 400 N⋅m (295 lb⋅ft; 41 kg⋅m). The all-wheel drive SU7 Max operates at 800 volts and provides a total of 495 kW (673 PS; 664 hp) and 838 N⋅m (618 lb⋅ft; 85 kg⋅m).
The SU7 Max uses a 101 kWh NMC battery produced by CATL and branded as Qilin mounted in a cell-to-pack format. The base, rear-wheel drive SU7 uses a smaller 73.6 kW LFP battery.[13] Xiaomi also plans to release versions with 132 kWh and 150 kWh batteries.[21][22] According to Xiaomi, the base SU7 is able to accelerate from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 5.28 seconds, while the SU7 Max goes from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 2.78 seconds.[23] Speed is limited to 210 km/h (130 mph) for the base model, and 265 km/h (165 mph) for the SU7 Max.[10]

Xiaomi targeted 100,000 deliveries in 2024 and had 70,000 orders by April of 2024.[25] By mid-2024, Xiaomi became the 8th largest automotive startup in China, measured by sales quantity.[26][27]
