Incumbent Mayor

Sam Liccardo

The 2022 San Jose mayoral election will be held on June 7, 2022 to elect the mayor of San Jose, California. Due to term limits, incumbent mayor Sam Liccardo is not eligible to run for reelection.

San Jose is the 10th largest city in the United States.[1] Though San Jose's municipal elections are officially nonpartisan, candidates tend to associate themselves with a political party. San Jose uses a top-two primary system; if no candidate receives a majority of the June 7, 2022 vote, a runoff will be held between the top two candidates on November 8, 2022.[2]

On April 28, 2021, San Jose Councilmember Raul Peralez announced his candidacy. On the same day, Councilmember Dev Davis also announced a campaign for mayor.[3]
