Battlefield [6] is the name of the second studio album by American Idol Season 6 winner, R&B and pop artist Jordin Sparks. It is due for release on July 14, 2009. [7] The first single is also called "Battlefield" and was released in North America on May 12, 2009 with further releases scheduled in June 2009 accross Europe and Australasia.

Album Background & production

In 2008 during a MySpace update, Sparks stated she was "in the studio and writing amazing songs!" She also told HollyscoopTV that she had spoken to Leona Lewis and the pair were considering recording a duet along the theme of 'female empowerment' [8]

On May 10, Sparks went ahead with a planned photo shoot for the album's cover and future singles.[9][10]

As of May 18, 2009, she has recorded 30 songs for the album but would select songs that fitted well with the first single "Battlefield".[11]

Singles

"Battlefield" is the first single from the album. It was released to iTunes in North America on May 12, 2009 and quickly became popular. Sparks appeared on the semi-finals of American Idol Season 8 with Ryan Tedder for the first live performance of the song. Philip Andelman had directed and produced the music video in Los Angeles [12] and is expected to premier soon.
