Bedrich Benes (born Bedřich Beneš 10 November 1967) is a computer scientist and a researcher in computer graphics.
He is a professor of computer science at Purdue University. He was a member of numerous program committees of various conferences, including ACM SIGGRAPH and Eurographics and he was a papers chair of Eurographics 2017. Dr. Benes is editor-in-chief of Graphical Models[1] journal and he was editor-in-chief of Computer Graphics Forum [2] (2018-2021). He is associate editor of Computers & Graphics.,[3] IEEE Transactions on Games,[4] and in Silico Plants.[5] He worked at Purdue Computer Graphics Technology from 2005-2021, where he held a named professorship (George W. McNelly Professor of Technology in 2019-2021). He is known for his work in geometric modeling, procedural modeling, scientific visualization, and software optimizations in digital manufacturing.
Benes received his Ph.D. in 1998 from Czech Technical University where he studied computer science and computer graphics and his M.S. degree in 1991 from the same institution in the same fields.
