Beryl, also known by her full name of Beryllinthranox, was a gigantic green dragon in the fictional series of Dragonlance novels. She followed her cousin, Malys, the great red dragon, from the world of alien dragons to the world of Krynn. She took the lands of Qualinesti and Abanasinia for herself, proclaiming herself a Dragon Overlord alongside four other dragons who claimed the same title. Beryl was once a powerful and intelligent dragon, but grew fat, her intelligence degenerating into simple cunning of an animal, and her scales becoming dull.

When Beryl arrived in eastern Ansalon, she met Malys who told her to go west and bring the dragons there under control and also to claim the land. During the Dragon Purge, Beryl killed nearly all the dragons in her realm, composed of the elven lands of Qualinesti at the time. Beryl subdued the elves and enlarged their forest, turning it into a jungle to suit her. Beryl also tried to find the Tower of Wayreth, as she sought the magical items hidden there. Beryl set up a lair that was nigh impenetrable. She had a campaign fought against the dwarves but was actually beaten back. At the end of the Dragon Purge, her goal was finding magical items.

After the interrupting of Malys's ascension to godhood, Beryl, in a rage against magic, captured Palin Majere and tortured him, looking for information about the magic she sought. Beryl attacked Palin's Academy of Sorcery as well, but it was destroyed thanks to a mistake on Ulin Majere's part. It leveled the Academy and killed several of Beryl's minions.

Beyrl had a group of greens known as the Chameleons who served as her border patroller. Beryl had another dragon known as Venom who acted as a messenger, and another known as Ichor who took messages back and forth from the Knights of Takhisis and the great Green. Vale, another dragon, served as a spy for Beryl, watching the elves. Beryl had Dark Knights and draconians that aided her as well. A group of elves joined Beryl as well.

Beryl made plans to attack Qualinesti to kill Laurana Kanan and to take a magical artifact there. She also led an attack on the Citadel of Light, which she completely destroyed. Beryl then personally went to Qualinesti to accomplish her goals there. With the combined power of the sword Lost Star and a Dragonlance, Laurana manages to slay the great Green dragon. Beryl's fall from the sky destroyed much of Qualinost, and when she died many elves went with her.
