Brian Keller (born June 21, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent.
Keller attended Germantown High School in Germantown, Wisconsin,[1] and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He played college baseball for the Milwaukee Panthers.[2]
The New York Yankees selected Keller in the 39th round of the 2016 MLB draft.[3] He received a $2,000 signing bonus when he signed with the Yankees.[4] While pitching for the Trenton Thunder of the Class AA Eastern League, he was named the league's pitcher of the week for July 23–29.[5] On August 1, 2019, Keller threw a seven-inning no-hitter for Trenton.[6]
After the 2021 season, the Boston Red Sox selected Keller from the Yankees in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft.[7]
On December 20, 2022, Keller signed with the Hanshin Tigers of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB).[8] He made only three appearances for the farm team in 2023 before returning to the U.S. to have his right elbow examined. On July 13, 2023, without having appeared for the main club, Keller and Hanshin officially parted ways.[9] On August 14, Keller underwent Tommy John surgery, likely ruling him out for game action in 2024.[10]
