Brian Savelson is an American writer, director, and producer who works in film, theater, and television.[1][2][3]
Savelson has written for numerous TV series including Amazon's The New Yorker Presents,[4] Fox's Next,[5] and Apple's Little America[6] for which he was nominated for The Humanitas Prize.[7]
Savelson wrote and directed the feature film In Our Nature[8][9] starring John Slattery,[10] Jena Malone,[11] Zach Gilford,[12] and Gabrielle Union.[13]
Savelson was a producer of the Tony Award-winning revival of A Raisin in the Sun[14] starring Sean Combs, Audra McDonald, Phylicia Rashad,[15] and Sanaa Lathan.[16] The production was noted for the especially diverse audience it brought to Broadway.[17]
Savelson's short film "Counting Water" screened at over 20 film festivals, was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Atlanta Film Festival,[18] was aired on PBS, and exhibited at LACMA.[19]
Savelson won an MVPA Award for his direction of the Band Of Horses music video "Is There A Ghost."[20] Savelson directed the music video for Joss Stone's cover of The High Road which featured the singer riding an elephant through a world of melting clocks.[21] Savelson has also directed music videos for Ra Ra Riot[22] and The Republic Tigers.[23]
In August 2020, it was announced Savelson would be collaborating on a new TV series with Janicza Bravo and Jake Gyllenhaal based on Ian Parker's New Yorker article, "A Suspense Novelist's Trail of Deceptions."[24]
