Club Deportivo Extremadura 1924,(lit: 'Sports Club Extremadura 1924' ), commonly known as CD Extremadura or simply Extremadura, is a Spanish professional football club from the city of Almendralejo, in the autonomous community of Extremadura. The club plays in the amateur Primera Extremeña, the sixth division of football in Spain for football clubs in the region of Extremadura, holding home games at the Estadio Francisco de la Hera.

Founded in June 2022 as a replacement for the folded Extremadura UD, the club was supposed to take its place in the Segunda Federación. Instead, the RFEF dropped them down into the amateur leagues of Spanish football. They have been there since their creation, starting to emerge into the semi-professional Tercera Federación.[1]

History

Club Deportivo Extremadura 1924 was founded in 2022, as a replacement for the dissolved Extremadura UD.[2] At first, the president Daniel Tafur tried to get its predecessor’s place in the Segunda Federación,[3] only for them to fail and therefore, it dropped to the Segunda Extremeña, the lowest category of Spanish football for football clubs in Extremadura.
