The title Prince of Leiningen and the use of the style "Serene Highness" has generally been restricted to the following persons:

• the head of the Princely House of Leiningen
• the legitimate sons of a head of the Princely House of Leiningen
• the legitimate male-line descendants of a head of the Princely House of Leiningen
