The title Prince of Saxe-Meiningen and the use of the style "Serene Highness" has generally been restricted to the following persons:

• the head of the House of Saxe-Meiningen after the German Revolution
• the legitimate sons of a head of the House of Saxe-Meiningen
• the legitimate male-line descendants of a head of the House of Saxe-Meiningen
