Chanuka Kavinda Wijesundara (born 23 May 1990 as චානුක විජේසුන්දර [Sinhala]), is a Canadian entrepreneur and Web developer.[1] He is the Founder of "Lankan Square", a Sri Lankan Community Hub in Canada that deals with business, cultural, socio-economic activities.[2] [3]
Chanuka Wijesundara was born on 23 May 1990 in Embilipitiya, Sri Lanka. His father is Gamini Wijesundara and mother is Violet Ruwanpathirana. He has one brother: Anumitha Wijesundara. Chanuka completed education from Embilipitiya President College. In the school, he was a member of the Innovation Club. After that, he attended to CINEC Maritime Campus and the Open University of Sri Lanka and obtained a degree in information technology.[1]
He is married to his longtime partner, Vindya Saram. They currently resides in Toronto, Canada.[1]
He joined the STEMUp Educational Foundation, the largest IT volunteer group in Sri Lanka.[4] He worked as a volunteer in the group for many years and won awards as the Best Volunteer in 2019.[1] After completing his higher education, he moved to Canada in 2018 and completed British Computer Society Higher Education Qualification (AMBCS). In 2020 at the Robocon, he won the award for the Most Innovative. which was later opened a new branch in Dubai, UAE.[5]
In April 2022, Wijesundara along with fellow Sri Lankan-born Canadian entrepreneur Kamaj Silva developed the website Lankan Square.[2][6] This is the first website created for Sri Lankan citizens in Canada that supports information related to businesses, religious events, concerts, festivals, seminars and workshops in Canada.[1] In the meantime, they also published the website "www.lankanmagazine.com" to publish artistic and educational information.[2]
