Daraja Press is a non-profit independent book publisher based in Québec, Canada,[1] founded in 2006. It was founded by Firoze Manji,[2][3] and has been referred to as a "radical international publisher."[4]

Daraja Press states that it publishes "seeks to build bridges, especially bridges of solidarity between and amongst movements, intellectuals and those engaged in struggles for a just world."[5] “Daraja” is the KiSwahili word for “bridge.”.[6] Daraja Press is known for its human rights focused releases,[7] and also publishes children's books.[8]

It has published works by Howard Waitzkin,[9] Kali Akuno, Ajamu Nangwaya, Themrise Khan, Kanakulya Dickson, Maywa Montenegro de Wit, Michael Neocosmos, Amílcar Cabral, Sylvia Tamale, Karim Hirji, Atticus Bagby-Williams, Nsambu Za Suekama, Tariq Mehmood, Íde Corely, Helen Fallon, Charles Reitz, Nnimmo Bassey, Nigel Gibson, Joe Oloka-Onyango, Amrit Wilson, Kevin B. Anderson, Ato Sekyi-Otu, Micere Githae Mugo, Ken Saro-Wiwa, and more.[10][11]

Daraja Press is a member of the Radical Publishers Alliance,[12] The Association of English-language Publishers of Quebec,[13] The Radical Books Collective,[14] and the Literary Press Group of Canada.[15] They also have a partnership with Monthly Review Press where they co-release materials in Spanish.[16]
