Central Avenue in Tampa, Florida is a road in downtown that was the heart of its African American community before being seized by eminent domain and razed for interstate construction in and a park.

It was on the western wdge of the neighborgood known as The Scrub.[1] A historical marker commemorates its history.[2]

In the 1890s seven businesses were located on it.[3]

The Cotton Club was a music venue where performers from the Chitlin Circuit performed.[4]

Historian Fred Hearns has offered tours of the area. Perry Harvey Park is located in the area.[5]

WEDU produced a documentary on Central Avenue and its history.[6]
