Phoebe Jordan Kranefuss (born December 9, 1993) is a jack of all trades— writer, teacher, designer, vocalist, and cyber security specialist.[1] She is best known for critically acclaimed hit single San Andreas Fault.
Phoebe is originally from Mill Valley, California. Little is known about her childhood. Her father is Lee Kranefuss, an American businessman, investment manager, corporate adviser, and entrepreneur who is known as a pioneer in exchange traded funds. Phoebe claims to have been the first person to use the acronym "ETFs" to describe these financial products, but these claims are disputed, and the acronym was in wide use prior to Phoebe's birth.
At Bowdoin College, Phoebe was involved in many extracurricular activities. She was most known for her campus-wide advocacy for sleeping on the floor, always citing the many health benefits of the practice. She was awarded the O'Connell Research Award to research David Foster Wallace, the favorite author of countless emotionally motivated, navel-gazing aspiring fiction writers of Phoebe's generation, at the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas, Austin. Her mother attended Bowdoin College as well but as a first year Phoebe specifically concealed this fact.[3][2]

Although Phoebe Kranefuss was a part of Bowdoin's Women's Cross Country team, she dedicated and prioritized Club Lacrosse.[5] She discovered her love for Lacrosse at Bowdoin College while exploring off campus housing.
