Southern Pacific 1269 is a preserved class S-10 0-6-0 switcher steam locomotive built by Baldwin Locomotive Works. in 1921. The locomotive was retired on February 1957 and was restored on September 23, 1978 to June 22, 1980. The locomotive went to Railfair 1981 and 1991 in Sacramento at the California state railroad museum and was last steamed on 1991. and now the locomotive is stored at the Nile River Railway.
Southern Pacific 1269 is a switcher locomotive The locomotive was retired on February 1957, it was donated to the City of Richmond and placed on static display in a new city park.[1][2] On September 23, 1978 the locomotive have been removed from display from group of people deciding to restore the locomotive into operating condition and on October 13, 1978 the locomotive arrives at Point Molate in Richmond on the Richmond Belt Line for a place that the locomotive will be restored into operating condition. On November 1979 the locomotive was doing a little test run while being under steam. On June 22, 1980 the locomotive was now in service and did a first official run in Richmond Canadian Pacific Railway. On May 1981 the locomotive participated at Railfair 1981 alongside with MCL Co. 2, D&R 8, BHL Co. 1, ATSF 5, SP 1269, Tom Thumb (1927 Replica), HL Co. Ltd. 10, SP 4449, UP 844, Jupiter (locomotive), Stephenson's Rocket (1979 Replica), and a newly restored UP 3985 where Gov. Stanford, C. P. Huntington, V&T 13 Empire, V&T 12 Genoa, V&T 21 J. W. Bowker, NPC 12 Sonoma, ATSF 1010, NWP 112, UP 4466, and SP 4294 live, while UP 4466 is undergoing restoration into operating condition.[3] On May 1991, the locomotive participated at Railfair 1991 alongside with V&T 22 Inyo, UP 1243, SERA 3, Dunrobin (2nd), GNR 1247, HLC 9, IID 151, JK&Co. Gwen, Tom Thumb (1927 Replica), Lafayette (1927 Replica), SP 4449, UP 3985, UP 844, and especially two newly restored steam locomotives SP 2472, and Eureka (locomotive) where Gov. Stanford, C. P. Huntington 1, V&T 13 Empire, V&T 12 Genoa, V&T 21 J. W. Bowker, NPC 12 Sonoma, AT&SF 1010, NWP 112, UP 4466, SP 4294, AT&SF 2925, and AT&SF 5021 live and last steamed on 1991. [4][5][6][7][8] As of 2024 the locomotive is stored at the Nile Canyon Railway.
