Submission declined on 9 January 2024 by MurielMary (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Uman (born 1980) is a Somali painter and sculptor.[1] Self-taught as a painter, Uman has received critical acclaim for her use of colour and figurative abstraction.[2][3] Her painting LSD snowfall was on the cover of winter 2022 issue of The Paris Review and her style described as "bright, geometric, and vivid".[4] Roberta Smith, co-chief art critic at The New York Times, has praised Uman as a "truly gifted artist".[5]
Uman was born in Somalia in 1980 and spent a substantial part of her early life in Mombasa, Kenya.[6] In 1989, her family decided to move to Kenya due to the eruption of the Somali Civil War, and they settled there permanently.[6] In the early 2000s, Uman was living in New York and participating in the city's creative scene.[6]

For winter 2023 Hauser & Wirth and Nicola Vassell announced a "collective impact" model with joint representation of Uman.[17]
