Ediz Gurel (born 2008) is a Turkish chess player who received the FIDE title of International Master (IM) in 2022.
Gurel is currently the youngest IM, and secured the second of his three-required Grandmaster (GM) norms after finishing on 6/8 at the 2023 European Individual Chess Championship.[1]
Gurel finished second, on 7.5/9, in the Under-14 section of the 2022 European Youth Championship.[2]

Gurel played in the 2023 Chess World Cup, causing a major upset when he defeated Velimir Ivić in the first game of their round one encounter.[3]
Gurel secured the third Grandmaster (GM) norm in the Challengers tournament at the 2024 Prague Chess Festival. He also won the tournament on 6.5/9. Since he had already surpassed the 2500 rating mark in June 2023, this win secured him the Grandmaster title.
