Summary
The Advertising Record, recorded by Len Spencer circa 1906.
The recording begins, “I am the Edison phonograph …”, and explains the novel benefits of the phonograph from the first person perspective of the machine. A very early landmark of advertising in modern media, this was played widely in shops to entice customers.
The author died in 1914, so this work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 100 years or fewer.
Not all audio files are "sound recordings". Sounds accompanying a motion picture or other audiovisual work are not sound recordings under U.S. copyright law. Use this template's equivalent, ((PD-old-100-expired)), for works that are not sound recordings.
The "Advertising Record", recorded by Len Spencer circa 1906. A landmark in commercial advertising, was used very widely in stores to sell the relatively new invention of the phonograph. Converted to .ogg from PD .wav
