Hepatcystis is a genus of protozoa. All species in this genus are parasitic and are trasnvered by midges. Hosts include Old World primates, bats and squirrels

The cystlike exoerythrocytic schizonts are found in the liver parenchyma.
The gametocytes are found in erythrocytes.
